The Office for Sexual Violence Response, Support and Education is hosting 3 free yoga sessions this winter for McGill students who have been affected by any form of trauma. The third session is on March 29, 6-7 p.m.
All sessions are free but have limited capacity. Please RSVP as soon as possible.
Designed as an alternative to traditional yoga practices, Trauma Sensitive Yoga has foundations in trauma theory, attachment theory and Hatha Yoga practice, with an emphasis on body-based yoga forms and breathing practices.
The classes will be guided by Malorie Moore a certified Hatha yoga instructor with over 1000 hours of training both in Montreal and Bombay. She also holds a Master’s in Social Work and combines her experience in mental health with yogic principles to create a class that is inclusive and accessible to all students, no matter your skill level or experience. Participants will be encouraged to move at a gentle pace while observing sensations in the body, mind and breath.
Accessibility: The building is wheelchair accessible via the main entrance on Sherbrooke. Wheelchair accessible washrooms can be found on the main floor but not on the 5th floor. The washrooms on the 5th floor are accessible by a small set of stairs and are not gender neutral. We strive to create accessible and inclusive space.
